Position: Facilities Manager
Department: Facilities and Operations
Reports to: Director of Finance and Operations
Interfaces with: Vendors, faculty, staff, students and the entire school community

Position Overview:
The Facilities Manager is responsible for safe maintenance of the facility with the main areas of responsibilities being maintenance, custodial, grounds keeping, transportation, emergency planning and security.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Leadership

● Collaborate with members of the Senior Leadership Team and other community stakeholders to ensure Stratford Hall (SH)  facilities and transportation services support and enhance SH     operations
● Provide direct leadership in support of all facilities and transportation operations


2. Management

● Manage the facilities team to ensure that the maintenance of the school facilities and campus is delivered in a timely manner and upheld to quality standards
● Perform scheduled and daily preventative maintenance tasks and continually monitor and evaluate the condition of buildings, grounds and vehicles to identify areas that require attention
● Responsible for on-going routine and unexpected maintenance and repair of operational systems including the HVAC, air quality, plumbing, electrical, fire and security
● Manage/ HVAC - DDC controls system including adjusting HVAC system timelines for special events
● Provide energy management for the school including implementation of solutions for energy reduction in lighting and HVAC Systems
● Respond to work requests for minor repairs or maintenance and prioritize tasks for completion
● Lead and manage special projects including determining scope of the project, obtaining necessary quotes and setting time-lines
● Perform inventory audits, purchase supplies and equipment and ensure machinery is maintained and serviced
● Experience leading a major renovation project
● Coordinate set up required for school functions and fundraising events
● Ensure the upkeep, maintenance and landscaping of all School grounds
● Ensures Work Safe BC standards are upheld at all time



● Diploma or a degree in Facility Management or a related discipline
● Minimum of five to seven years of building operations and maintenance experience
● Project management skills
● Experience participating on a Health and Safety committee
● Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and G Suite
● Requires knowledge and experience with building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security as well as knowledge of municipal code
● Supervisory experience and leadership skills
● Ability and desire to work in a collaborative school environment where each member of the community plays a role in advancing the vision, mission and goals of the school
● Strong communication skills both written and verbal, combined with problem solving skills
● Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize
● Proficient computer skills including word, excel and the ability to learn new programs
