Job Overview

Harbin Zhongshi Canadian International School is a newly certified British Columbia Offshore program school located in Harbin, China. We offer the BC high school diploma program to grade 10-12 students seeking to pursue post-secondary studies in Canada as well as other English-speaking jurisdictions around the world.

We are seeking adventurous, flexible and energetic BC-certified professionals to help our school grow and our students succeed!  We believe in forming inquiring, confident and resilient learners through project-based learning, authentic assessments, and innovative instruction. Our program features small class sizes and personalized learning in an environment that stresses critical and creative thinking, and strong oral language development.  If you seek the satisfaction of teaching highly motivated students in state-of-the-art classrooms, and you relish the prospect of discovering a new culture, then we invite you to apply!

Benefits

We offer a generous compensation package that ranges between $52,000 to $66,000 CAD per year depending on education and Canadian teaching experience. Other benefits include paid accommodation, yearly round-trip airfare, medical insurance through MSH China, as well as a settlement allowance. To show our commitment to your professional growth, we also offer a professional development allowance of up to $1,500 CAD annually, and Master’s degree support (of up to 50%) for those who extend their initial contracts. Most importantly, teachers enjoy a nurturing professional environment, with a truly supportive Chinese administration that works in complete harmony with the BC administration!

Qualifications

A Bachelor of Education is required. While teachers from British Columbia and elsewhere in Canada are preferred, certified teachers from the US, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and the UK may also be considered if they meet the requirements for British Columbia teacher certification. The school will even cover the cost of initial certification with the British Columbia Teacher Regulation Branch for teachers not currently BC-certified. New teachers are also welcome to apply! Candidates will be asked to supply a teaching report, transcripts, reference letters and a detailed resume.

Additional Details

Please send your application to Grant Sundal, the BC program principal and include a cover letter, 2-3 professional references with contact information, scanned degrees and teaching certifications, and ideally a recent teaching report.
