Glenlyon Norfolk School Head of School   Glenlyon Norfolk School invites applications for the position of Head of School.   Located on two campuses in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, Glenlyon Norfolk School (GNS) challenges and supports each of its students to do their best through truth and courage in learning and life.  One of Canada’s top IB continuum schools, GNS is a co-educational independent day school, providing 700 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 with a holistic education that is committed to the critical thinking, enquiry-based approach of the International Baccalaureate. We are looking for like-minded individuals who will share in our passion for preparing outstanding citizens who will contribute to the world through their leadership, a commitment to service, and an understanding that we are all responsible for the future of our communities.   We are currently seeking an exceptional candidate to fulfill the role of Library Technician, whose personal philosophy and manner aligns with the GNS values of Truth, Courage, Caring, Individuality and Community.   Library Technician Junior School, FTE 0.53 Regular, Part-time (20hrs/week) Tues-Thurs 8:00am-12:00pm, Friday 8:00am-4:30pm Start: immediate Responsibilities: Provides support for the Junior School Learning Commons by: • supervising the learning commons; • overseeing the circulation system and the circulation of learning commons resources; • assisting students and staff in using the learning commons catalogue and subscription databases; • assisting students with book exchanges; • assisting Teacher-Librarian in the production of signs, bulletin boards and student work displays; • assisting in promoting learning commons materials both physically and digitally; • maintaining the physical appearance of learning commons to ensure it is a tidy and welcoming space.   Maintains the Junior School collection by: • maintaining, updating and customizing the learning commons catalogue, using prescribed cataloguing practices and ensuring inventory is properly maintained, to the detail recommended by the Teacher Librarian; • assisting Teacher-Librarian in ordering new resources and processing relevant paperwork; • creating and distributing overdue notices to teachers, and following up on the retrieval of overdue materials; • inspecting returned items for damage; repairing items as needed; and assisting in the replacement of damaged books; • conducting annual inventory, preparing reports of ‘lost books’ and advising the Finance Department; • assisting in weeding the learning commons collection to ensure materials are useful and relevant.   Performs other support duties by: • assisting Teacher Librarian with various administrative tasks and other relevant duties, as assigned; • assisting with book exchange periods; • welcoming and making room for students who wish to use the Learning Commons at all breaks. • doing storytime, when requested, with JK, K and Grade 1 that includes book exchange time.   Desired Qualifications and Skills: • Completion of a Library Technician or Library and Information Technology Diploma from an appropriately accredited institution. • 1-2 years recent library experience.
